• University has released the Thapar University 2026 application form for MBA courses & apply for B.Tech & other various UG courses has been started. 
• Candidates are able to complete the application from procedure via online mode. 
• During form filling procedure, candidates have to enter the details such as personal, communicational, academic details, etc.

Thapar University 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for admission checkout the eligibility listed below:

For B.E/ B.Tech Programme: 

• Qualifying Exam: Candidates must passed 10+2 or equivalent exam.
• Subjects: Physics, Mathematics and any one out of Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology and Technical Vocational subject.
• Marks: Minimum 60% marks in PCM/PCB. 55% marks for SC/ST candidates.
• Entrance Test: Secure qualifying rank in JEE Main.
• Appearing candidates in 2026, can also apply for admission.

For MBA Programme: 

• Qualifying Exam: Graduation degree or PG degree in any stream.
• Marks: 50% minimum marks or equivalent CGPA. 5% relaxation for PwD, SC & ST candidates.
• Final year appearing candidates are eligible to apply.
• CA/ACS/ICWA candidates can also apply.
• Candidates must have valid CAT/ XAT/ GMAT/ CMAT/ TMAT (Thapar Management Aptitude Test).

For B.E (Lateral Entry):

• Nationality: Candidates must be citizen of India to be eligible for admission.
• Qualification: To be eligible, candidates must passed diploma, in any discipline of minimum 3 years duration after matriculation from Polytechnic College/ Institute affiliated with State Board of Technical Education/ University or recognized by UGC/ AICTE. OR 
• Candidates with diploma, in any discipline of minimum 2 years duration after 10+2 from polytechnic colleges/ institute affiliated with State Board of Technical Education/ University, or recognized by UGC/AICTE to apply.
• Marks: Candidates with minimum of 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST) in aggregate or equivalent grade point in qualifying exam can apply.

Thapar University Admission Procedure 2026

To get admission in TIET (Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology), students can apply via merit list or entrance test organized by the university or other national level tests. Besides merit list, TIET also offer direct admission to students on subject of fulfilling the eligibility criteria.

Admission will be offered by the Institute subject to seat availability. The candidates who have not appeared in the JEE Main 2026 can also be considered for admission in some branches. Such candidates are required to appear in the TIET entrance test to be conducted in December 2026 (tentatively). 

Admission to B.E/ B.Tech programs shall be made on the basis of prescribed criteria of jEE Main 2026 and 10+2 PCM. Candidates are required to fill application form one time only and on the basis of single application form, that can seek admission through any mode.

On the basis of merit of JEE Main -2026, admission will be done on the basis of merit of All India Rank (AIR) of JEE Main – 2026. On the basis of merit list of JEE Main -2026/ 10+2 PCM. Moreover, on the basis of merit of JEE Main – 2026/ NEET- 2026/ 10+2 PCM/ 10+2 PCB. 

Thapar University Entrance Test 2026

Mostly, Thapar University will provide admission through national level entrance tests like JEE Main, GATE, CAT, MAT etc. But in case of vacant seats or some courses it also organize entrance test like TMAT (Thapar Management Aptitude Test), TIET entrance test etc. After qualifying the test, candidates have to go through the interview process. TIET entrance test to be conducted in December 2026 (tentatively).

Thapar University Result/Merit List 2026 

Candidates who will appear in TIET entrance test can check their result through online mode. Thapar University Result 2026 will be announced within a week after the examination. To access the result, students shall have to use their login credentials on the website.

The merit list will be prepared as per the candidates performance in JEE Main, Thapar university entrance test or qualifying exam. In case of tie, the authority will resolve the issue through a tie breaking criterion. Based on merit list, candidates can appear in online or in-person counselling.

Thapar University Counselling 2026

TIET (Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology) offers admission in B.Tech courses through merit of JEE Main or 10+2 or equivalent exam and TIET entrance test. Thapar University 2026 Counselling will be held through online/offline (In Person). It will be commenced after the publish of merit list.

BE/ BTech counselling schedule will be announced on the website once the JEE Main-2026/ 10+2 results are declared. Branch allocation in online round of counselling will be as per the merit category wise set availability and branch preference order filled in application form.

On Roll Candidates (ORC) are those who have deposited the full fee and have not withdrawn their seats. Candidates-Not-On-Roll (CNOR) are those who have withdrawn their seats after depositing full fee. While allotting branch/ discipline in the online rounds of counselling (2nd/3rd/4th and so on lists), only ORC and candidates not offered seats shall be considered in all the subsequent lists on the basis of merit. 

The allotment of discipline will be made on the basic of the seats available in a particular discipline and category, the order of preference for various discipline given by the candidates, and his/her merit. Candidates depositing total fee must enter complete details in ‘Fee Confirmation-Slip’ (FCS) available at the Institute website on or before the respective prescribed last date.

The admission given shall be provisional only. The list of documents required at the time of in-person counselling is provided below.

• Result Card & Admit Card of JEE Main (if applicable)

• Character Certificate
