JEE Main Counselling 2026

The counselling process has been started after the declaration of JEE Main 2026 results & JEE Advanced 2026 results. The counselling process is organised through online mode. It is managed by JoSAA. Those obtaining the cut off marks can proceed successfully for counselling process.

Counselling for vacant seats for special rounds is regulated by CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board). It is organised in various rounds. JEE Main 2026 Counselling process comprises various steps like registration, choice filling, seat allotment, seat acceptance & reporting to the allotted college.

JEE Main 2026 Counselling Dates

JEE’s Main counselling schedule for session 2026 is released by JoSAA on its respective website. Candidates can check and download it simply by clicking on the link or notification for the release of the schedule.

For the candidate’s ease, here in this article, we have also provided the complete official JEE 2026 counselling timetable. Mode of counselling is online. The schedule contains details regarding the counselling process, step-by-step event details, registration, seat allotment, choice filling, and other information.

JEE Main Result 2026 has been declared on 16th February 2026 for 1st session & on 20th April 2026 for 2nd session exam.

After the result declaration, JoSAA counselling is organised. The start date of registration is announced with the schedule of JEE Advanced on respective website.

JEE Main Counselling Process (JoSAA)

The counselling process is divided into various steps, which are mentioned below:

Online Registration:

To participate in the counselling process, candidates have to register via online mode. Go through the website of JoSAA (Direct link is given above).

Firstly, log in through the JEE Main 2026 roll number and password. Fill in all the registration details carefully. After filling in all the details, click on the “Confirm Registration” button.

Choice Filling & Locking:

Candidates are required to pay fee for choice filling & locking after login on the website. Maximum choices must be filled for the seat allotment.

After filling the choices, don’t forget to lock them. In case candidates forget to lock their choices, then last saved choices will be locked automatically.

Provisional Seat Allotment:

As per the filled choices, seats are allotted to candidates. Candidates must take a printout of the “Provisional Seat Allocation Letter” and E-challan for seat acceptance.

At the time of accepting the seat, candidates have to choose freeze, slide, or float options for subsequent rounds.

Seat Acceptance & Fee Payment:

The seat acceptance fee will be Rs. 15,000/- for reserved categories and Rs. 35,000/- for general candidates. Candidates have to pay the fee through E-challan & SBI net banking. Candidates paying fee through e-challan must take a printout of it for further use.

Note: The amount includes JOSAA processing fee which is noon-refundable.

Reporting at the Allotted Reporting Centre for Verification:

After the seat acceptance fee payment, candidates have to appear at the reporting centre for verification. Candidates have to bring the required documents to the centre.

Seats are confirmed by the reporting centre after the verification of documents. If candidates fail to report to the allotted centre their offers are rejected.

Reporting to the Allotted College:

Once the seat gets confirmed by the reporting centre, candidates have to report to the allotted college or institution. Students have to bring the documents and admission fees as prescribed by the allotted college.

Documents Required for Verification

After the seat allocation, candidates must have to appear at the reporting centre for seat acceptance. Candidates have to bring their original documents and a set of self-attested photocopies.

After verification, the original documents are returned to candidates. Documents required for verification are as mentioned below:

  • Three passport size photographs (same as uploaded in the JEE Main application)
  • Provisional seat allotment letter
  • 12th class performance check
  • Undertaking by the candidate
  • Proof of seat acceptance fee payment
  • Photo ID card (issued by govt./last attended school/12th class admit card)
  • JEE Main 2026 admit card
  • JEE Main 2026 scorecard
  • Date of birth proof (10th class mark sheet)
  • 12th class mark sheet & passing certificate (if available)
  • Medical certificate
  • Category certificate (if applicable)
  • PwD certificate (if applicable)
  • OCI certificate or PIO card
  • Registration-cum-locked choices for seat allotment, etc.

What is CSAB Special Round?

Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) has been established by Ministry of Education, Government of India, for the organising of admission procedure into UG Engineering programmes. Special round counselling is organised after JEE Main exam for qualified candidates to offer admission in NITs, IIITs, IIEST, GFTIs, SPAs, etc.

Primarily, CSAB Special Rounds are organised for filling vacant seats after the completion of JoSAA counselling process.
