GATE Exam Update: The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, in continuation with the release of details for the upcoming Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2026) examination, has now released the exam cities.
The list of examination cities for GATE 2026 is available at gate2026.iitg.ac.in along with details of the eight zonal coordinating institutes — IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee.
The GATE exam will be held in more than 200 cities across India to ensure maximum accessibility for candidates on 07, 08, 14, and 15 February 2026.

All the candidates are required to note that the list of cities for GATE 2026 mentioned above is tentative. GATE 2026 reserves the right to add a new city or remove an existing one, and allot a city that may not be from any of the choices selected by the candidate. Any changes will be updated on the website.
Candidates can select the cities for the examination at the time of registration. The GATE 2026 application form will be released on 25th August 2025. While filling the form, you will get the option to select cities for the examination.
A candidate can choose three cities from the GATE 2026 exam city list, and all three city choices should be from the same GATE 2026 zone.
The examination for GATE is only being conducted in centres within India. Candidates from Foreign nationals and Indian citizens residing abroad can appear for the GATE 2026 examination by paying the full application fee (₹2000 per test paper).
However, they have to choose examination cities within India. They are also required to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation to appear for the exam at an assigned centre within India.
