Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS), Patna is an autonomous institution that was founded on 19th November 1983. It works on the pattern of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. The institution has been granted by the Medical Council of India (MCI). Apart from academic education, IGIMS delivers health and medical care facilities.
Campus
The campus of IGIMS is located at Bailey road, Shiekhpura district of Bihar state. The state government has allotted 130.20 acres of land to IGIMS. The entire area of the campus is beautifully landscaped and accommodates functional administrative block and academic block.
Facilities
The college has a spacious library that contains various books, journals, audio-video materials, CDs, magazines and newspapers. The library is fully computerized and has the facility of internet. It has well-equipped laboratories of all departments. All the laboratories are highly ventilated and have all the latest equipments for learning. Programmes
Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Patna provides the degree of MBBS, MD, MS, M.Ch, DM, DNB and various paramedical degrees. The institution admits 100 students every year in the fresh batch of Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). For the successful completion of this course, every student shall undergo a period of certified study of 41/2 academic years which is divided into 9 semesters followed by one year compulsory internship.
