Katihar Medical College, Katihar was established and administered by Al-Karim Educational Trust, Patna in the year 1987. The institution has the affiliation from Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University, Madhepura and all the courses of the college are approved by Medical Council of India (MCI).
Campus
The hi-tech campus of Katihar Medical College is situated in Katihar district of Bihar. The campus has been constructed over 50 acres of land and has a built-up area of around 6,00,000 sq.ft. The campus comprises buildings of administrative block, academic block, hostels and hospitals. The campus is located at a distance of 5 kms away from Katihar railway station.
Facilities
The college is well-facilitated with various amenities that include fully fledged library accommodating latest edition text books, reference books, national and international journals. Also, it houses reading halls for study purpose. The lecture theatres are fully equipped with audio-visual aids. The hostels provide the accommodation to both girls and boys. Katihar Medical College, Katihar offers fully-residential Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme. It is a four and a half-year course with one year internship/training. Internship is basically the training period during which the students get learn about the actual practice of health care so that in future they can handle the patients independently and confidently.
