Swami Vivekanand Institute of Engineering and Technology, (SVIET) Patiala is a private aided engineering college located in Patiala district of Punjab. The college was established in the year 2004 and is a part of the Swami Vivekanand Group of Institutes (S.V.G.O.I). The S.V.G.O.I was established by Shri Raghu Nath Rai Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust, Mohali. The SVIET was established with the objective of providing quality technical education to the students of the region. The SVIET is affiliated to Punjab Technical University (PTU) Jalandhar, and approved by all India council for technical education (AICTE) New Delhi and Government of Punjab.
Campus:
The college is located at Ramnagar, Banur in Chandigarh-Patiala highway in Patiala (Punjab). The college has well established campus comprising of well designed buildings, and a unique infrastructure. Since the college is located in Chandigarh-Patiala highway, accessing to the college is very much easier by all means of transport.
Programmes:
The college is offering five courses in undergraduate engineering discipline with the total intake capacity of 540 seats. The college is also offering three courses in the post graduate engineering discipline with the total intake capacity of 54 students. The courses offered by SVIET are approved by AICTE and affiliated to Punjab Technical University (PTU) Jalandhar.
Facilities:
The major facilities provided by SVIET are well equipped labs and workshops, ventilated and fully furnished classrooms, computer centre with internet facility and well equipped with latest hardware and software. The college has well stocked library having 30000 text books and a good collection of national and international journals. The SVIET also offers courses facilities like sports and gymnasium, canteen and mess facility, hostel facility.
Placement:
The college has a fully fledged Training and Placement cell which helps the students in their training and placement activities. The cell consists of a team of independent staff and placement coordinator from various departments of SVGOI. The cell arranges industrial visits and training programs for the prefinal and final year students. The main objective of the cell is to place maximum no. of students in the top companies.
Activities:
The activities that are organized throughout the year are Farewell party for final year students, Spontania, blood donation camp, NCC camp, Fresher’s party, Republic day celebration, Sports day etc.
