How to become a Nephrologist?

Students who are interested to become a Nephrologist are required to study bachelors, masters and doctoral courses in this field. Nephrology courses can be studied as a specialization in most of the colleges and candidates are needed to complete a basic course in medicine. Nephrology courses help aspirants to choose various spcializations under Nephrology. There is a vast scope in Nephrology like all other branches of medicine.  Nurses who wish to apply for this course is the need of having a basic nursing degree.

Bachelor Courses:

MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery): It is a four and a half year course with the eligibility of minimum 12th or equivalent class passed with physics, chemistry and biology subjects.

Master Courses:

MD in General Medicine: You can apply for MD (General Medicine) course after completing the MBBS degree. It is a three years duration course.

Doctoral Courses:

Doctor of Medicine (DM) in Nephrology: After completing the courses MD in General Medicine, you can apply for DM in Nephrology or DNB in Nephrology. The duration of this course is three years. After getting the requisite registration from MCI, you can practice as a Nephrologist.
