JEE Main Exam Update: The National Testing Agency, to help candidates with doubts and questions, has released the JEE Main 2026 FAQs.

Through JEE Main 2026 FAQs, the authority has answered several common doubts raised by candidates about registration, documents, eligibility, exam rules, and form-filling issues.

The JEE Main 2026 registration is ongoing via online mode, and the link to apply for JEE, FAQ PDF, and all the details are being released at the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in. NTA has answered a total of 42 questions.

3How can candidates register for JEE (Main) 2026?Instructions to apply online are available in the Information Bulletin on the NTA website under Important Information and Dates at a Glance (Para 3).
Candidates should also check Appendix IX for a replica of the application form.
4Do candidates have to fill a separate application form for each session?Yes. Candidates must apply separately for each session. Right now, the application is open only for Session 1. Dates for Session 2 will be announced later.
5If a candidate did not apply for Session 1, can he or she apply for Session 2?Yes. Candidates who miss the January Session can fill out the form for the April Session when the portal opens for that session.
6Can candidates appear in only one session, or do they have to appear in both sessions?It’s the candidate’s choice. They may appear in one or both. If they appear in both, the best NTA Score will be used for ranking and merit list.
7Will calculators be allowed during the exam?No. Calculators in any form are not permitted in the JEE (Main) examination.
8In the registration form, which registration number should be filled?Candidates appearing in Class 12 from CBSE should enter the application number mentioned in their admit card or mark sheet. Candidates from other boards should enter their roll number assigned by the board.
9Are DigiLocker documents valid?Yes. Documents downloaded from DigiLocker can be uploaded to the online application form.
10Candidates who are giving improvement/reappearing in one or more subjects in Class 12 – which option should they select between Passed or Appearing?Option to be chosen is passed.
11What is the minimum eligibility for appearing in JEE (Main) 2026?Refer to Chapter 3 of the Information Bulletin on the NTA website.
12What is the State Code of Eligibility?Candidates must refer to Para 2.34 of Chapter 2 of the Information Bulletin available on the NTA website.
13What should candidates fill in the Nationality field?Select Indian or the applicable nationality.
14What should be filled in the field of Pin Code?Candidates are required to enter 111111 in the Pin Code field.
15How will the OTP be sent for Aadhaar verification?The OTP is sent to the mobile number linked with Aadhaar. Candidates must ensure their Aadhaar-linked number is active and accessible.
16Will a candidate’s candidature be affected if there is a mismatch in the name between the Class 10 Marksheet and the Aadhaar Card details?No. A difference in the name between the Class 10 Mark sheet and the Aadhaar Card will not affect the candidature for the JEE (Main) 2026 Examination.
17Is APAAR ID mandatory?No.
18How to capture a live photograph?Candidates are advised to refer Step 2 (Application Form), Note 2 of Para 3 (Application Procedure: Steps to be followed to apply online) Under “IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND DATES AT A GLANCE”, Page No. 4 of Information Bulletin for JEE (Main) 2026.
19If the live photograph does not match the photograph on the Aadhaar Card, will it lead to the cancellation of the application form?All such mismatch will be reviewed by the NTA. In case of any major discrepancy, the candidate will be informed via email or text message.
20What is the Eligibility and Certificate required by PwD/PwBD candidates?Candidates are advised to follow the instructions of RPwD Act, 2016 and instructions/guidelines as notified in Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India, Office Memorandum No. F. No. 34-02/2015-DDIII dated 29 August 2018 for PwBD and Memorandum No. F. No. 29-6/2019-DD-III dated 10 August 2022 for PwD. 23What is the basis for the choice of cities?In this regard refer to Para 5.1 of the Information Bulletin of JEE (Main) 2026, available on the NTA official website.
24What are the choices for the medium of the question paper for the examination?For details, refer to Para 2.2 of the Information Bulletin of JEE (Main) 2026, available on the NTA official website.
25Is it mandatory to upload the Category Certificate?No, the Category Certificate is not required to be uploaded in the online Application Form of JEE (Main) 2026. Instead, the candidate should fill in the following details: 1. Certificate Number. 2. Date of issue. 3. Issuing authority. In case the Category Certificate is not available and candidate has applied for the same, the acknowledgement/receipt Number, date of application and issuing authority details be filled in the online application form. Such candidate would be required to provide the certificate at the time of document verification during admission.
26Are candidates required to send/submit any document(s) including the Confirmation Page to NTA through Post/Fax/By Hand?No, candidates are not required to send/submit any document(s) including the Confirmation Page to NTA through Post/Fax/WhatsApp/Email/by Hand.
27What if the dates of the JEE (Main) 2026 examination clash with any other national/state-level examination?If such a clash occurs, then NTA will not change the allotted date or shift of the examination for the candidates.
28How are the date and slot for the JEE (Main) 2026 examination selected?The Date, Shift and Slot of the examination are allotted randomly by the computer.
29Can candidates correct or change their particulars, including the city of the exam centre, in the online application form?As per the instructions for filling the online application form, candidates are required to fill their particulars carefully, and NTA is not responsible for any mistakes made by candidates. A one-time correction facility for selected fields will be provided.
30Can a candidate cancel the application form once submitted for JEE (Main) 2026?The online application form, once submitted successfully, cannot be cancelled or withdrawn.
31If a candidate does not receive an admit card, whom should the candidate contact?Candidates are advised that Admit Cards will not be sent by post. Candidate has to download the Admit Card from the NTA official website after a public notice regarding the downloading of admit card is displayed. 32Can a candidate change the examination City or Centre after the allotment?The allotted Examination Centre cannot be changed, in any case.
33What do candidates need to bring to the exam centre?For details, refer to Para 5.4 of Information Bulletin of JEE (Main) 2026, available on the NTA official website.
34Can a candidate leave the examination centre early if the test is finished before the allocated time?No, candidates are not allowed to leave the examination centre before the test concludes.

39Does the application fee exclude the service charges of the payment gateway?Yes, the Application Fee excludes the common service charges, which will have to be paid by the candidates. 40How can one remit a fee for JEE (Main) – 2026?Refer to step 3 (Fee Payment) of Para 3 (Application Procedure: Steps to be followed to apply online), under “IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND DATES AT A GLANCE” on page 5 and Appendix I of Information Bulletin of the JEE (Main) 2026, available on the NTA official website.
41What should a candidate do if there is a problem in fee remittance due to a failed transaction?The Confirmation Page can be downloaded only after successful payment of the fee. If the Confirmation Page cannot be downloaded, candidates are advised to pay the fee again. Any excess amount paid due to a failed transaction will be refunded by NTA later.
42How will the Confirmation Page and Score Card be sent to candidates?Copies of the Confirmation Page and Score Card will be sent to the registered email addresses of candidates as well as their parents.
NTA will conduct the JEE Main 2026 session 1 between 21st – 30th January 2026 and JEE Main 2026 session 2 between 02nd – 09th April 2026. The mode of the exam is going to be a computer-based test.
