Pondicherry University Eligibility Criteria

Basic Eligibility:

• For UG Courses: Candidates should have passed 12th or its equivalent exam with prescribed minimum marks with the required subjects from a recognised board.
• For PG Courses: Candidates should have Bachelors degree or its equivalent exam with prescribed minimum marks with the required specialisation from a recognised institute or university.

• Appearing: The students who have appeared in their qualifying exam but are awaiting their results are also eligible to apply.

For B.Tech (CSE):

• Qualification: Candidates should have passed Higher Secondary Exam (10+2 level) from a recognised board or university.
• Minimum marks: Candidates should have passed 12th with minimum 45% marks (40% for reserved category).
• Subjects: Students should have passed with qualifying marks in aggregate of subjects such as Physics, Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics and any one among optional subjects – CS/ IP/ Chemistry.

For M.Tech (CSE):

• Qualifying degree: Candidates passed with B.E/ B.Tech degree or its equivalent in CSE/ IT or its equivalent OR M.Sc in CS/ IT/ Software Engineering or equivalent OR MCA with Bachelors degree in CS/ CA/ IT/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Electronics/ Physics/ Applied Sciences or equivalent
• Minimum marks: Candidates obtaining minimum marks of 55% in any of the above mentioned degrees are eligible.
• Entrance exam: Candidates should qualify CUET PG 2026 with relevant subjects for applied course.

Pondicherry University 2026 Admission Procedure

The admission procedure of Pondicherry university starts with release of CUET UG/ PG applications. To get admission in various UG/ PG courses offered at Pondicherry University, students have to appear & qualify CUET UG / PG exam.

Earlier, the university used to conduct its own university level entrance exam for admission in various courses. Now it is done on merit on the basis of marks obtained in the entrance exam of CUET.

After the successful organisation of CUET exam, Pondicherry University will activate its counselling/ admission website and release the selection list.

Separate merit list will be released for various UG programmes and PG programmes online. Only the candidates called out in the merit list/ selection list can participate further in physical counselling/ document verification round.
