The examination has been organised for providing admission to various management courses offered by IIMs. Common Admission Test (CAT) is a national level examination. Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Lucknow conducted the exam in slot 1, slot 2 & 3 among various cities.

CAT 2023/ 2024 Exam Analysis

The CAT 2023 registration started from 2nd August 2023 & ended on 13th September 2023. The Authority provided correction facility for limited time period. Candidates were only allowed to edit their signature & photograph only. Total 2.88 lakh candidates appeared for the examination.

The authority also provided mock test for candidates. The admit card for CAT 2023 was released on 7th November 2023. CAT 2023 examination was conducted as computer based test on 26th November 2023, Sunday for providing admission to MBA/ PGDM course.

The examination was successfully conducted in three slots. This year, CAT 2023 exam was conducted in 375 test centres.

Slot Wise CAT 2023 Exam Analysis

Exam Analysis for Slot 1:

The paper pattern was same as the last year. CAT exam was doable and was not very tough on comparison to year 2022.

The VARC section was more inference based. The questions in this section had reading comprehension passages from the topics mostly predicted.

The DILR section was little time consuming or lengthy and was considered moderate in difficulty level by the students.

For the QA section, most students found it tough but was considered basic for the well-prepared ones. Students told about this section that it had diverse set of questions with varying complexities in it.

Exam Analysis for Slot 2:

CAT 2023 Slot 2 exam was overall considered moderate and little tough comparison to last year exam.

The VARC section had questions from predicted topics and was more inference based.

Whereas DILR section was considered lengthy by candidates and was moderate in difficulty level.

About QA section, students considered it a balanced mix of challenges making it moderate in difficulty level.

Exam Analysis for Slot 3:

According to the students, CAT 2023 Slot 3 paper was moderate to difficult. Students mostly found this slot very much challenging and were dissatisfied with the paper.

There were easy to difficult question in the VARC section of CAT paper.

Whereas DILR section had moderate to difficult level of questions and also demanded time management skills.

The QA section was considered difficult by the students and students mostly encountered challenging problems in various topics.
