GATE Exam Update: Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, has started the GATE 2026 application correction via online mode.
All the candidates who have made mistakes while applying can now make corrections. The authority has given the GATE form correction facility for a limited period.
The GATE application correction link is activated at gate2026.iitg.ac.in. Only candidates who have submitted the GATE application form by the deadline are eligible to avail this facility. The correction window is open for 06 Days.
How to Edit GATE Application Form
Given are the steps through which you can edit your GATE entrance exam form:
- Go to the GATE official website
- On the homepage, look for “Application Portal”.
- Click on it, and you will be redirected to a new page.
- Enter your login credentails and click on “login” option.
- Your application form will appear on screen.
- Correct the required fields.
- Review the details and submit the form.

As per the official details, a few changes can be made by paying a correction fee, while others are allowed free of cost. Candidates can edit their name, date of birth, examination cities, existing paper, gender, and category details by paying ₹500.
However, for some category and gender changes, the fee is higher, for example, changing gender from female to any other or changing category from SC/ST to any other costs ₹1500 for general candidates and ₹500 for female, SC/ST, or PwD candidates.
Similarly, switching between PwD/Dyslexic and Non-PwD/Dyslexic categories also carries a ₹1500 fee for most candidates and ₹500 for female or reserved category candidates.
Candidates must ensure that all corrections are made carefully within the given timeline, as no new registration or further edits will be allowed once the correction window closes.
The GATE 2026 application correction window opens on 28th September, and candidtes can make corrections till 03rd October 2025. This is a one-time opportunity, so candidates are required to edit their forms correctly.
As per the GATE schedule, the exam will be held on 07, 08, 14, and 15 February 2026 in two sessions: 9:30 am to 12:30 pm (Forenoon Session – FN) and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm (Afternoon Session – AN).
The GATE admit card will be released only for those candidates whose application forms have been accepted by the authority. It will be released on January 02, 2026.
