For all undergraduate medical aspirants to licentiate practice in India, it is a mandatory exam. To determine the eligibility & ranking for admission of desirous candidates who want to apply for various PG medical education, this exam is conducted.

As there is no official statement regarding conducting of NExT exam. In the year 2024, announcement was made about NExT being replaced by FMGE & NEET PG exam. Two sessions will be conducted in NExT exam i.e in May & November. Step 1 (CBT exam) & Step 2 (Practical or clinical/ viva voce exam) will be two stages in examination.

NExT Exam Application Form
Candidates can check below to know complete NExT Exam application form details:
- NExT Exam application form will be released from the last week of October.
- There will be three stages in application procedure such as Online registration & basic information, generation of EUC code & Completion of application form.
- Candidates will be able to fill out the application form through online mode, no offline method will be available.
- From the second week of July, applications will check the status of registration and final status of application will be updated.
- Exam unique codes (EUC) will be generated from the last week of June to second week of July whose basic information will be accepted.
- During registration, candidates must be careful as the authority may or may not provide any correction facility.
- Candidates must have a valid/ active email id & mobile number to communicate further for information.
- The last date to submit application form will be till second week of July for practice test.
Application Fee:
- NExT exam mock/ practice test application fee will be submitted using digital mode only.
- Facility such as Debit card/ credit card & net banking methods will be provided.

How to Apply for NExT Exam
Here is the step-by-step procedure to fill NExT application form:
- Step-1: Go through the online website of NExT (Link will be given above).
- Step-2: On the homepage, press “Proceed to basic registration form”.
- Step-3: Press “New registration zone” option.
- Step-4: Check out the given instructions carefully and press accept button.
- Step-5: Fill the application form such as personal, contact, address, and other asked details.
- Step-6: Upload requisite documents such as photograph, signature, category certificate, etc as per the given specification.
- Step-7: Submit prescribed amount of application fee using available gateway.
- Step-8: Recheck filled details and confirmation page will be generated.
- Step-9: Take a hardcopy of filled form and keep it safe till further process.
NExT Eligibility Criteria

- Applicants in final year of MBBS course in recognized medical/ institutions in India/ approved by NMC will be eligible to apply.
- Graduates foreign medical candidates approved by NMC for purpose of obtaining a license to practice medicine as registered medical practitioner in India.
- Those candidates who has a medical degree for purpose such as pursuing an academic course, observer ship or any other purpose as may be specified and approved by NMC.
NExT Exam Pattern
Check below to know complete NExT exam pattern:
- Mode of Exam: Mock/ practice test will be conducted through CBT mode.
- Duration: 3 hours will be given for Paper I & 3 hours and 30 minutes given for Paper II.
- Type of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with single correct answer will be asked in exam.
- Shift & Time: Exam will be conducted in two shifts – 9 AM to 12 Noon & from 2:30 PM to 6 PM.
- Number of Questions: Total 120 questions will be asked in Paper I & 140 questions in paper II.
- Marks: 1 mark will be given for each correct answer.
- Negative Marking: ¼ marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.
NExT Exam Syllabus
The NExT Exam syllabus will be released by the authority through online mode. Candidates will be able to check it from the website. We have mentioned some of the questions asked in paper I & paper II:

NExT Preparation Tips
Here we are providing some of the effective tips and tricks which helps to score higher in the NExT exam:
- Try to spend more time on the hard topics from the syllabus.
- On daily basis, try to solve as much as mock tests and model questions papers.
- Take a help from internet and get better ideas to prepare for the exam.
- Start study by making a realistic timetable that covers all the syllabus and topics.
- Have a proper diet and sleep.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
NExT Exam Admit Card
Registered candidates for entrance exam will be able to download the NExT admit card. Candidates will be able to access admit card through online mode for mock/ practice test.
Login credentials such as registration number and password will be required. Admit card will be the most important documents and must be shown at exam center to appear. Candidates must go through the complete details on the admit card.
NExT Exam Result
NExT exam result for Practice/ mock test will be declared in July. Result will be announced separately for CBT & Practical or clinical/ viva voca.
Candidates will have to visit the website to download result. Those qualified candidates in CBT will be considered eligibility to appear for pratical or clinical/ viva voca examination. Login details will be required to access result.
NExT Mock Test
All India Institute of Medical Sciences, AIIMS New Delhi will be responsible to conduct the NExt mock test. Candidates who want to appear for mock test will have to register themselves through online mode.
The mock test link will be provided on the website to register. It is a practice examination designed to help medical graduates to prepare for the actual NExT examination.
NExT Exam Practical or Clinical/ Viva Voca
The practical/ clinical/ viva voca exam will be the NExT exam step 2 which will be conducted in person by respective state Health Institutions/ Universities. There will be 7 clinical subjects/ disciplines in it.
The exam of practical will be based on clinical case, simulated patients/ case aiming to evaluate practical/ clinical skills, clinical decision making & communication skills.
