How to become an Obstetrician?

There are some eligibility criteria set by every college/university with which you can get admission in particular. You need to be eligible for the particular course of the exam. To become an Obstetrician, you are required to complete the bachelor, master and doctoral level courses in this field. You can study Obstetrics as a specialization in master level courses.

Before pursuing master courses you have to pursue a bachelor course in the medical field like MBBS from the recognized university by Medical Council of India (MCI). The candidates must have registered with the Medical Council of India or any of the State Medical Council. Interested Aspirants have to appear in PG entrance examination.

The candidate must secure 50% marks separately in each paper for the eligibility to be placed on the merit list.

MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery): It is a five and a half-year course. Students can apply for this course after 12 passing with physics, chemistry and biology subjects.

MS in Gynecology and Obstetrics: It is a two-year postgraduate course. Admission in these courses will be given to those students who have successfully completed MBBS course from any recognized college.

DM in Gynecology and Obstetrics: To pursue this course, students are required to complete master courses in the related discipline like MS in Gynecology and Obstetrics. It is a three years duration course.
