The Government of Delhi is planning to launch a free coaching facility for students from Dalit communities preparing for the entrance examination.
The free coaching will include competitive exams such as IAS, Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), and other medical entrance tests
To support talented students who belong to economically weaker backgrounds and cannot afford private coaching, this initiative is being discussed.
The scheme follows the earlier Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana launched in 2017 by the AAP government, which aimed to provide similar assistance but became inactive due to alleged financial irregularities. The case is currently being investigated by the anti-corruption branch.
According to government officials, the upcoming initiative will be developed by the SC/ST/OBC/Minorities Welfare Department and is expected to cover tuition fees at approved coaching institutes. It may also provide stipends to help students manage their living expenses while preparing for exams. The plan will feature strict monitoring and accountability measures to prevent misuse and ensure transparency.
“The demand for academic support for Dalit students has been persistent from community organizations and student groups. They want talented students to have access to opportunities without financial barriers,” said an official. Education Minister Ravinder Indraj has reportedly instructed the department to draft a detailed scheme, which will soon be submitted for approval.
Officials also stated that inputs from the finance and law departments will be incorporated to finalize the framework. Till now, no notice has been released regarding this, a formal announcement regarding the eligibility, process, and dates will be announced.
It is expected that this initiative will be seen as a significant step toward bridging educational gaps and giving Dalit students a fair chance to compete in national-level exams.
