GATE Exam Update: The GATE 2026 registration was extended. Candidates were given 09 more days to submit the online application form.
All the candidates who have met the GATE eligibility requirements are advised to apply successfully within the deadline.
There are two GATE application form submission deadlines, one with the late fees and the other without late fees. To avoid extra charges, candidates are advised to pay the GATE application fee within the regular window.
What is Last day to Apply For GATE 2026?
The registration for GATE started on 28th August 2025, and candidates were able to submit the application form till 28th September 2025 without a late fee, which is now extended till 06th October 2025. With a late fee, candidates are allowed to submit the GATE form till 09th October 2025.
The GATE registration window has been open for more than a month without late fees. The application fees are to be submitted category-wise through the online medium.
For female, SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the fee per test paper is ₹1,000 during the regular registration period (August 28 to 06th October, 2025) and ₹1,500 during the extended registration period (September 29 to October 9, 2025).
For all other candidates, including foreign nationals, the fee per test paper is ₹2,000 during the regular period and ₹2,500 during the extended period. PwD refers to Persons with Benchmark Disability. Candidates opting for two test papers must pay double the above fees.
Last year, the GATE 2025 registration was extended for 2 times. This year, the registration has been extended once, and candidates are required to submit the form and not wait for the registration extension, as it’s not fixed whether the GATE 2026 registration will be extended or not.
IIT Guwahati is going to conduct the GATE 2026 exam on 7th, 8th, 14th & 15th February 2026. Examination will be held in computer-based mode in two shifts from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. Candidates whose application form will be accepted by the authority are the ones eligible to take the examination.
