JEE Main Exam Update: The National Testing Agency has officially released all the details regarding the JEE Main 2026 city preferences and process.
Candidates note that for this session few cities have been added and some cities have been merged/ removed compared to JEE Main 2025.
Previously, some false information regarding this JEE Main exam center process change was in headlines that candidates may no longer be allowed to choose their preferred examination city, but aspirants note that the JEE Main exam centre selection process remains the same.
JEE Main 2026 Exam Centre Process
All the details regarding the number of cities and the choice of city preference are available on the JEE Main 2026 information bulletin. It is released at jeemain.nta.nic.in
Chapter 05 of the bulletin covers the Conduct of Examination, and section 5.1 specifically explains the Choice of Examination Cities. Candidates at the time of JEE Main 2026 registration are required to select their preferred exam city.
A candidate can choose up to four exam cities, but these city choices must be from the state mentioned in their Present Address or Permanent Address. Candidates cannot choose exam centres from any random state.
Aspirants are required to select their JEE Main exam city on their own, NTA will not be responsible for any inconvenience due to the incorrect selection of cities by the candidate

The JEE Main 2026 examination’s complete details are officially announced. From 31st October 2025, online registration for session 1 has started. The last day to apply for JEE Main 2026 is 27th November 2025. All the candidates are advised to fill the form sucessfully.
NTA will hold the JEE Main 2026 session 1 between 21 January 2026 to 30 January 2026 and JEE Main Session 2 between 2 April 2026 and 9 April 2026.
