JEE Main Exam Update: The Media reports say that the National Testing Agency is planning a major change in the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) examination process for the upcoming session.
JEE Main 2026 aspirants, it is expected that candidates may no longer be allowed to choose their preferred examination city.
However, till now, NTA or any official authority has not said or announced anything regarding the JEE Main exam city preference or exam center process changes.
JEE Main 2026 Exam Centre Process
Until now, JEE Main aspirants were allowed to choose up to four preferred exam cities while filling out the application form. Based on availability, NTA would then allot one of those cities as the final exam centre. This system gave students the flexibility to select locations closer to their school, coaching institute, or home, helping them plan travel and stay in advance.
If the reports are correct, then the change will be implemented from JEE Main 2026 onwards. The NTA is reportedly considering an Aadhaar-based auto-allocation system, under which exam cities will be automatically assigned according to the address mentioned in the candidate’s Aadhaar card.
This will make the JEE Main form-filling process simple and minimize chances of manipulation or fake entries, but it would also take away the candidate’s choice to select a preferred exam city. Students studying away from their hometown or whose Aadhaar details are outdated might face inconvenience or additional travel costs.
Big Update Out on JEE Main 2026 Registration, Keep Aadhaar & Certificates Ready
Recently, an advisory was released urging candidates to update their Aadhaar details and other personal information before JEE Main registration begins. While the proposed system could make the process more transparent and efficient, no official announcement has been made yet.
The JEE Main 2026 examination complete details are going to be announced shortly through the official notice and bulletin on jeemain.nta.nic.in for final confirmation.
