JoSAA Update: The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has released the JoSAA 2025 Opening & Closing Rank. It is released via online mode.
For those who don’t know: The Opening Rank refers to the highest rank (i.e., the best rank) at which admission to a particular course begins, while the Closing Rank is the lowest rank at which the last seat in that course is allotted.
JoSAA 2025 counselling is ongoing, and for candidates, the JoSAA 2025 Opening & Closing Rank for this session is available at josaa.nic.in
To check category-wise highest and lowest ranks for different colleges like IITs, NITs, IIITs, IEST, and GFTIs, candidates can visit the official JoSAA portal and select their preferred institute, branch, and category. The data is publicly available, and no login is required.
How To Check JoSAA 2025 Opening & Closing Rank
Follow the simple steps given below to check the JoSAA 2025 opening & closing ranks:
- Go to the JoSAA respective website josaa.nic.in
- On the homepage, select the “e-service” option.
- A drop-down will appear on the screen.
- Click on the “opening & closing rank” option.
- Under the “view/download” section, click on “Opening and Closing Ranks 2025” link.
- You will be redirected to a new page.
- Enter the required details and click on the “submit” option.

After entering all the details, the screen will display information such as the Institute Academic Program Name, Quota Seat Type, Gender, Opening Rank, and Closing Rank. Candidates are also required to note that
- Opening/Closing Ranks for Open seats represent the Common Rank List (CRL).
- For EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, and ST seats, the ranks shown are based on respective category ranks.
- For PwD seats, the ranks shown are PwD category ranks within the respective categories.
- If a rank has the suffix ‘P,’ it means the seat was allotted based on the Preparatory Rank List.
Candidates who are part of the counselling should also check the seat matrix. A JoSAA Seat Matrix is a document that has details about the total number of available seats in the participating institutions (like IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs) under various categories and quotas for admission through JoSAA counselling.
Till now, the JoSAA round 1 and round 2 seat allotments have been announced. Candidates can check it on the counselling website. (JoSSA Seat Allotment Update). The last round of 06 seat allotment will be released on 16th July 2025 at 5:00 PM.
