Admission Procedure

In Assam, the admission into law colleges on the basis of National level entrance exam & University level entrance exam. The exams are Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), NEF Law Entrance Test (NLET) & many more. Some of the law colleges in Assam offer facility of direct admission into law courses. The admission will be based on the marks secured by the student in the qualifying examination.

Entrance Exam

CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) is a national level entrance test managed by the 17 National Law Universities (NLUs) on rotation basis. CLAT exam will be conducted in the month of May 2017. On the basis of CLAT score, students will get admission into law courses.

Assam has various higher education institutions such as state Institutions, private Institutions & law colleges. The top law colleges in Assam are National Law University and Judicial Academy, NEF Law College, Jorhat Law College, Dhubri Law College, etc.

Law Admission 2017

Students will get the CLAT application form through online mode. The application form has been provided from 1st January 2017. The form will be available till 31st March 2017. Students have to meet the eligibility criteria for Law Admission in Assam 2017.

Eligibility:

  • Students have to complete 10+2 or equivalent examination for admission into 5 years integrated law courses.
  • Those students want to get admission into 3 years LLB course, they have to pass their graduation degree.
  • Students have to score at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of SC/ST category) in the qualifying examination.
  • For admission into LLM courses, students have to qualify 3/5 years LLB/BL degree.
  • There is no upper age limit for admission into law courses.

Selection Procedure

Students have to fill the admission form to get direct admission into law colleges. Students will get direct admission into law courses on the basis of university norms & eligibility criteria. Those students appear for the University level entrance exam, they are selected on the basis of their performance in the entrance exam. The merit list will be published by the University for admission into law courses. Some of the law colleges also accept the scorecard of the CLAT for admission into law courses.
