CLAT 2017Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2017) is a national level entrance exam. It is commenced once in a year in the month of May. It is organized for granting admission in Integrated L.L.B and L.L.M courses offered by 18 National Law Universities of India. For the year 2017, examination is being organized by the Chankya National Law University, Patna. Last year (2016), it was managed by the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab. CLAT 2017 Application form filling process is over.

As per the decision made by authorities, candidates who are above 20 Years of age (for general/NRI/NRI sponsored) & 22 years (SC/ST/OBC/SAP) as on 1st July 2017 are also eligible to apply for UG courses in CLAT 2017 exam.

CLAT 2017 Counselling

The authority has released the fourth indicative seat allotment list on 24th June 2017. The admission to UG and PG programmes in CLAT participating universities 2017 under CLAT 2017 will be done via centralized counselling. The seat will be allotted on the basis of the ‘merit-cum-preference’. That will be prepared by CLAT score and order of preference given by the candidate in the CLAT application form. After the result announcement, the CLAT 2017 Counselling process has been started from 6th June 2017. The counselling process will be organized in four rounds. Candidates would have to pay Rs. 50,000/- as counselling fee to show their commitment/seriousness in taking admission in any of the participating NLU(s).

CLAT 2018

CLAT 2018 is a national level law entrance test organized by the 18 National Law Universities (NLUs) rotationally. It is conducted for admission into integrated LL.B. and LL.M. programme. Candidates will be able to fill the application form the 1st week of January 2018.

CLAT 2017 Registration/Application Form

  • CLAT 2017 registration was available via online process only.
  • The CLAT 2017 Application Form was available from the 1st January 2017.
  • Before filling the application form, candidates should be ready with the scanned documents of photograph, signature, SC/ST/SAP certificate (if applicable) and domicile certificate (if applicable).
  • Candidates are suggested to fill the application form carefully.
  • The last date for submission of the filled application form was 31st March 2017.
  • There is no need to send the application form through offline process.

Application Fee:

Candidates those belong to the UR/OBC/SAP (Specially Abled Persons) category, have to submit Rs. 4,000/- as an application fee. SC/ST candidates have to pay Rs. 3,500/- only. The application fee can be deposited either through Online or e-Challan. Additional bank charges may apply for the above transactions. The application fee is non-refundable in any circumstances.

Eligibility Criteria

To appear in CLAT 2017, candidates have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria. The eligibility criteria for UG and PG courses are different as given below:

For UG Programmes:

  • Candidate has to qualify their 10+2 or equivalent examination with the minimum 45% marks (in case of Unreserved/OBC/SAP categories) and 40% marks (in case of SC/ST category).
  • Appearing candidates of Class 10+2 or equivalent examination in March/April 2017 are also eligible to appear in the entrance exam.
  • At the time of admission, the candidates would have to produce an evidence of their passing qualifying examination.
  • The upper age limit to appear in CLAT 2017 has been removed.

For PG Programmes:

  • Candidates must be passed the LL.B or equivalent degree with a minimum of 55% marks (Unreserved/OBC/SAP categories) and 50% marks (SC/ST category).
  • Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible to appear CLAT.
  • Candidates would have to produce the evidence of their qualifying examination at the time of admission.
  • There is no upper age limit for PG courses.

Exam Pattern

The CLAT 2017 Exam Pattern is different for UG and PG programmes.

UG Programmes:

  • Mode of Exam: The entrance exam is being held through online process.
  • It was a computer based test (CBT).
  • Medium: The medium of examination was of English language.
  • Marks: The question paper was of 200 marks.
  • Marking Scheme: For each correct response, 1 mark was given to the candidate.
  • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks was deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Duration: The time duration of this entrance exam was two hours.

For PG Programmes:

  • Mode of Exam: The entrance exam was held through online process.
  • It was a computer based test (CBT).
  • Medium: The medium of examination was of English language.
  • Duration: The paper was of 2 Hours duration.
  • Marks: The paper was comprise of 150 MCQs.
  • Marking Scheme: The candidate was be awarded for 1 mark for each correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: There was provision for 0.25 negative marking for every incorrect response.

How to Prepare for CLAT

CLAT 2017 Syllabus

For the exam preparation, candidates have to know about the complete CLAT 2017 Syllabus. The syllabus of the entrance exam was prepared by the conducting university. The syllabus includes the topic of General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Legal Aptitude, Elementary Mathematics and Constitutional Law, etc.

Answer: It means, allotment of seats will be done on the basis of score of CLAT and university preferences marked by candidates in application form.

Disability in the act is defined to include: Blindness, low vision, leprosy cured, hearing impairment, loco-motor disability, mental retardation or illness.
Answer: Yes, Examination Centre will provide. But no electronic devices are allowed in Examination Hall/Room.
Answer: The Mock Test will be available on the website shortly. The candidate can use the same and practice as many times as he/she wants. This will give look and feel of the format of online examination (Computer Based Test) in simulation environment. It can also be downloaded and can be installed on stand-alone computer.
Answer: No change can be made after the Final Submission of the Application Form. However, if the time is still left for filling up the Online- Application Form, the applicant has to fill a Fresh/New Application Form along with the prescribed fee. In such case the new ID will be generated by the system and the fee paid for the previously filled Application form will not be refunded. Make Note that the last application form shall be treated as Final.
Answer: It means that the Application Form has not been submitted successfully and you are required to apply a fresh.
Answer: The candidate must retain the Hard copy of the Filled-in form, Fee receipt Detail and Auto-generated ID and Password.
Answer: Your e-mail ID is your login ID and you are required to click on the forgot password’ button and follow the directions to ‘recover/reset your password’.
Answer: During the online submission of application form, the candidates will be required to fill up all the 18 available choices of National Law Universities for the UG/PG course in order of their preferences. Seats shall be allotted on merit-cum-choice basis and candidates can not change their choices after submitting the application.

Answer: Yes. Some of the participating Law Universities have provision of domicile based reservations.

CLAT 2017 Admit Card

Aspirants can download the admit card through online mode. CLAT 2017 Admit Card was available from 20th April 2017 (10:00 PM). The conducting university was not send the hall ticket through e-mail or by post. On the day of examination, it is mandatory for the candidates to bring the identity proof (Aadhar Card/Voter ID/ Passport/Driving license) along with the admit card. Candidates are advised to preserve the admit card for further use.

CLAT 2017 Answer Key

On the day of examination we ( display the preliminary answer key to facilitate the aspirants to calculate their scores (link is given above). After the result announcement, the official answer key was released. The CLAT 2017 answer key was published on 16th May 2017. With the help of answer key, candidates can get a rough idea that how many marks they was score in the examination. The final answer key was released on 25th May 2017.

CLAT 2017 Result

The CLAT 2017 Result & Rank was released on 29th May 2017. Candidates can check their result via online mode. The merit list is released with the result. On the basis of the merit list, candidates will be called for the admission procedure.
