NEET Exam Re-Exam: In a recent update on the NEET UG 2025 examination, the Supreme Court and a High Court declined to act on NEET challenges.

However, previously, a division of the court bench of the high court had stayed the order. The Madhya Pradesh High Court had ordered a re-examination. On 14th June 2025, the NEET 2025 results were announced through online mode by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

However, the results of a few candidates were kept on hold. These candidates had filed petitions regarding certain issues faced during the exam, and their results were withheld pending further directions from the court.

NEET Exam Re-Exam Update 

NTA conducted the NEET UG 2025 exam on 04th May 2025, and many candidates in Indore and Ujjain faced power cuts during the exam. The High Court has now decided to favor petitions raised by the NEET aspirants, stating that candidates should not be penalized for circumstances beyond their control.

The High Court had ordered a NEET re-examination, but only for students who filed petitions before June 3, 2025. Petitions filed after seeing OMR sheets or answer keys will not be considered. Examination will be conducted for the NTA for these 75 eligible candidates.

As of 05th July 2025:

  • Supreme Court and Madras High Court rejected petitions related to NEET UG 2025.
  • SC dismissed a plea claiming errors in the NEET UG 2025 question paper.
  • A request for a re-exam due to a power cut is rejected by the Madras High Court.
  • The SC said similar cases were already dismissed and it can’t change results based on one student’s request.
  • Lakhs of candidates have taken the NEET exam, and changing anything now would affect many others.

As of 3rd July 2025:

  • Re-Exam Stayed: MP High Court division bench has stayed the re-exam order for 75 students affected by power outage; the next hearing is on July 10, 2025.
  • NTA Appeals Decision: NTA is saying that conducting a separate re-exam for a small number of candidates is not fair to the rest of the students. It will be difficult to create a new question paper same difficulty level as the previous one.
  • Power Cut Not Impactful: NTA has told the court that even if there was a power cut, candidates have finished the exam using the natural light at the center. Also, from those affected center some students have scored more than 600 marks. As some students still performed very well, they believe a re-exam isn’t necessary.
  • No Broad Re-Test: Madras High Court rejected a wider re-exam plea from 13 students, stating it would affect 22 lakh candidates unfairly.
  • NEET 2025 Results Out: Results were declared on June 14, 2025, excluding those under court stay.

All NEET aspirants note that the court has clearly said By 1st July:

  • The re-test is strictly limited to candidates who filed petitions before June 3, 2025.
  • Students were put at a disadvantage despite no fault of their own. To maintain transparency and fairness, the re-exam is being conducted.
  • The re-exam must be conducted at the earliest, and results should be declared promptly.
  • The exact number of students is stated as 75, but the final count will be confirmed by NTA.
  • The NTA will issue fresh admit cards for the re-exam. The previous admit cards will not be valid.
  • Only the scores of the re-examination would be considered for determining the petitioners’ rankings.

Till now National Testing Agency (NTA) has not yet released any official notice regarding the NEET 2025 re-exam for affected candidates.
