An Engineering discipline that applies the principles of Physics, Mathematics and Material Science for Design, Analysis, maintenance and manufacturing of mechanical systems is known as Mechanical Engineering.
Mechanical Engineering is one of the oldest disciplines of engineering, which was originated in europe during the industrial revolution era (18th century). Later, it was accepted in professional education during the early 19th century.
If you are passionate about working with machinery, engines, robotics, material science and aviation systems then pursuing a B.E. or B.Tech in mechanical engineering could be the best choice for you.
What is Mechanical Engineering?
Mechanical Engineering is an engineering branch that combines engineering physics & mathematics principles with material science, to design, analyze, manufacture & maintain mechanical systems.
Mechanical Engineering (ME) is fully based on the term “Mechanism”. The Mechanism simply means a system of parts working together in a machine. It is the concept on which the law of physics, material science, environment condition and mathematics are involved in the design, production, manufacturing and maintenance of any machine.
Mechanical Engineering (ME): A brief History
In the year 1847, the first British professional society for mechanical engineering was formed and named the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).
It was established in Birmingham, England, to promote the exchange of technical knowledge and support the professional development of engineers working with machinery and industrial processes.
Mechanical Engineering also involves with other various engineering disciplines like civil engineering, manufacturing engineering, electrical engineering, chemical engineering, aerospace engineering and metallurgical engineering.
Mechanical Engineering Courses
Candidates can pursue a diploma, or undergrduate courses in mechanical engineering after completing their 10+2.
A B.E. or B.Tech in Mechanical engineering (ME) is a 4 year undergrduate degree program. The course curriculum covers the principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis, fluid mechanics, and machine design.
