The reason behind making NEET mandatory is due to the NCAHP Act 2021, which aims to bring uniformity to admissions for Allied and Healthcare courses across India. Many of these programmes are closely connected to patient care, diagnostics, and clinical services.
By implementing this the the Commission wants a common merit standard for students entering these fields. Most of the newly notified curricula already mention NEET as a required entry point, along with other course-specific criteria.
