Every year, GATE 2027 exam is conducted to offer admission in the field of Engineering, Science, Technology, Architecture & Humanities. GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is a national level entrance exam conducted for assessing the candidate’s comprehensive knowledge in UG level courses.
Those candidates who seek admission in M.E/ M.Tech, etc programmes can appear for GATE examination. The scores of the GATE 2027 exam will be valid for three years. Also, candidates are eligible for recruitment in various PSUs through GATE scores. PG admission will be offered to the candidates without MoE Scholarship for some colleges & institutions.

GATE 2027 Registration

- GATE 2027 registration is starting on 21st August 2026.
- Candidates will be able to submit their application form via online mode & there will be no offline method provided.
- In GATE Registration 2027, there are several steps such as Online Registration, Filling of application form, uploading documents & payment of registration fee.
- In case, candidates opt for two papers, they have to pay twice the application fee.
- After completing the registration, upload the requisite documents in prescribed format & size.
- Applicants will not be required to send the printed copy of registration form or any documents to the authority or zonal GATE offices.
- The GATE 2027 registration last date will be 21st September 2026 without late fee.
- The deadline for registration with late fee will be till 30th September 2026.
- In case of multiple applications submitted by the candidates, only one is considered & rest will be rejected without any refund of fee.
- Those applying candidates from outside of India have to travel to India to appear for the test.
- Do not forget to take a hardcopy of application form for further usage in admission.
Application Fee:
- GATE Exam 2027 fee can be submitted via online mode only.
- Online facility such as debit card/ credit card/ net banking/ UPI/ wallet will be available.
- The submitted fee is non-refundable until a certain two paper combination is removed by the Organizing institute.

Required Document for GATE 2027 Registration
During form filling, one will have to upload the given documents in the prescribed format:
Required Data:
- Communication details like address etc.
- Personal information- Name, Mobile Number, DOB etc.
- Qualifying degree information
- GATE papers & code in which they wish to appear
- 3 exam cities of choice
- Fee payment mode & details
Required Documents:
- Aspirants Photograph (in HD as per specifications)
- Signature of Candidate’s (in HD as per specifications)

GATE 2027 Application Correction
Applying candidates will be eligible to make correction in the GATE exam form 2027. Candidates will be able to make corrections through online mode. The edit link will be activated on the GATE 2027 official website. Only a few details will be rectified by the candidates in the exam form.
Applicants will be charged a fee for making corrections in the details provided in the GATE exam form 2027. It will be allowed only in a few details as mentioned in the table below:

GATE 2027 Eligibility Criteria

- Qualifying Degree/ Subject: Candidates in 3rd or Higher years of any UG degree (currently) or completed any degree (Govt. approved) in Engineering/ Technology, Humanities & Sciences, Architecture will be eligible to apply.
- Age Limit: There will be no age limit prescribed by the IIT Madras to apply for exam.
- Eligibility for Foreign Nationals: Those pursuing or completed their qualifying degree from outside India should be currently in 3rd or higher years of any UG degree can apply for GATE exam. OR
- Those completed bachelor’s degree (at least 3 year duration) in Engineering/ Technology, Humanities & Sciences, Architecture can apply.
- Applicants having certification from any professional societies must make sure that the examination will be approved by AICTE/ MoE/ UPSC/ UGC as being equivalent to B.Tech/ B.E/ B.Arch/ B.Planning, etc.

How to Apply for GATE 2027
Get complete step-by-step procedure to apply for GATE 2027 exam:
- Visit the website of IIT Madras GATE website (Link will be given above).
- On the homepage, press the “GATE online application processing system (GOAPS)” button.
- Now register yourself by clicking on the “GATE 2027 Registration” link.
- Enter the name, email ID, mobile number & other details required to register.
- Validate the details to generate the login details (Enrolment ID & Password).
- Now login using allocated details to complete the application form procedure.
- Enter the information such as personal, academic qualification, communication, exam centre, & other information, etc.
- After filling the form, upload the requisite documents such as photograph, signature, photo IT proof, category certificate, etc in prescribed format.
- Upload the documents in JPEG/ JPG format & in between 5 KB to 600 KB & the signature under 3 KB to 300 KB.
- Recheck the details once before submitting it on the GATE official website.
- After uploading the documents, press the “Payment” button.
- Submit the prescribed amount of application fee as per your category.
- Re-verify the details & press the “Submit” button.
- A confirmation page will appear on the screen.

GATE 2027 Application Status/ Scrutiny
According to the authorities of GATE, an “Application Under Scrutiny” is a review process undertaken for the validation of the information submitted by the applicants in registration form. GATE 2027 registration status can be checked anytime by the applying candidates.
Candidates will have to visit the website and login their account using login credentials. After login using details online, the GATE 2027 application scrutiny will be displayed on the screen. The status of application will only be updated after the scrutiny by the respective zonal offices.
