Admission Procedure

India has the strict policy for admission in courses like MBBS and BDS. The admissions in the MBBS and BDS course of Indian Institutions will be offered on the basis of single national level entrance exams known as NEET. National Eligibility Cum-Entrance Test (NEET) will be mandatory for every candidate who wishes to have medical or Dental certificate from India. On the basis of NEET 2023 exams scores, candidates must apply for admission in any state medical and dental college of India.

The admission into postgraduate medical courses will be offered through NEET PG & INI CET exams.

Entrance Exams

NEET 2023 is a national level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). Qualified candidates of this exam will get admission in MBBS and BDS programmes of various Central, State and Private owned Medical/ Dental institution.

However, AIIMS and JIPMER national level exams are replaced by NEET Exam, so candidates will have to apply for NEET 2023 in order to get admission in such institution. There will be no state or university level entrance exam which is currently conducting for admission in these courses as every university and state authority accept the NEET score for admission in their MBBS or BDS programs.

The Admission in the MBBS and BDS courses in India will be offered purely on the bases of NEET score. After the examination Medical Counseling committee (MCC) conducts the counseling process of every major Institution across the country, however every state authority conducts their own counseling procedure for 85% state quota seats.

Following are the list of some major eligibility norms that every candidate will have to fulfill to be eligible for NEET exam. 

  • Candidate must be an Indian citizen.
  • OCI, NRI, PIO or Foreign National candidates can also apply.
  • The minimum age of the candidate should be 17 years as on 31st December of the year of admission.
  • The maximum age is 25 years and 30 years for reserved categories.
  • Candidates should pass the 10+2 intermediate or equivalent with 50% (40% for SC/ST and OBC-NCL) marks in PCB. 
  • Candidates should have Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as mandatory subjects to be eligible for NEET Exam.
  • Candidates those studying in 12th class will be also eligible to apply.

Selection Procedure

The candidates will be selected for the seat allotment on the basis of rank. The seats will be allotted at the time of counselling. After declaration of the NEET result, the authority will release the merit list of the candidates as per their ranks.

Candidates have to appear in the online counselling where they have to fill the preferences of colleges. For participating in the counselling it will be necessary to first register on the respective counselling website.

Candidates will have to undergo documents verification for the allotment of seats. Candidates will be able to download the admission letter and report to the allotted colleges for final admission.

The candidates those will be eligible for the counselling should bring the documents which are given below.

  • Matric Mark Sheet & Passing Certificate
  • Intermediate Mark Sheet & Passing Certificate
  • NEET 2023 Admit Card
  • NEET 2023 Rank Card
  • Category Certificate (if applicable)
  • Character Certificate
  • Migration Certificate
  • Passport-size Photographs, etc.
