Admission Procedure

Students will get admission into law courses in Karnataka through CLAT score card or direct admission. No state level entrance exam will be conducted in Karnataka for law programmes. Law Colleges situated in Karnataka offer direct admission on the basis of the eligibility criteria. Some universities organize its own entrance exam for admission into law courses in its university.

Entrance Exam

The Universities offer admission form for direct admission into law courses. CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) is a national level entrance test conducted by the NLUs on rotation basis. CLAT exam will be organized in the month of May.

Law Admission 2017

Students can get the CLAT 2017 Application form from 1st January 2017 through online mode. The last date to fill the CLAT application will be 31st March 2017. Students can meet the eligibility criteria before registering for CLAT:

  • For UG Courses, students have to qualify the 10+2 or equivalent examination & score at least 45% marks (40% marks in case of the SC/ST category).
  • For PG Courses, students have to complete the LLB or equivalent examination & obtain minimum 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST category).
  • Appearing candidates can also apply.
  • There is no upper age limit for appearing CLAT 2017.

Selection Procedure

Students have to fill the application form of the college & appear in the counselling process. CLAT qualifying students get admission on the basis of the rank secured in the examination. Those students apply through direct admission, they will be selected on the basis of eligibility criteria & college norms. The admission will be done on the merit base. Some colleges will offer admission on the basis of first come first serve.
