GATE Exam Update: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras has officially released the GATE 2027 two-paper combination details at gate2027.iitm.ac.in.
In GATE, the primary paper is based on the candidate’s undergraduate subject, while the secondary paper is from a related field.
Candidates must ensure they select the correct combination of papers at the time of registration. As per the GATE schedule, the exam will be held on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2026. Candidates get question papers based on the subjects they selected.

GATE Registration 2027
The GATE 2027 registration has begun on 2nd September 2026. The last day to apply for the regular online registration /application process (Without Late Fee) is 5th October 2026, and for the extended online registration/ application process (With Late Fee) is 12th October 2026.
According to the officials, GATE exam is conducted in computer-based mode, and the question paper is available in English only. Candidates choosing to appear for two papers must select a primary paper and a second paper from the allowed combinations listed by the authority.
Any other combinations are not allowed during the regular or extended registration periods. The authority may add more two-paper combinations later, based on infrastructure and scheduling, and will announce these updates on the GATE 2027 website.

The exam centre for the second paper might be different from the first one, but it is in the same city. GATE 2027 is not responsible for any issues arising from this arrangement. If any paper combinations are removed later due to unforeseen reasons, the fee for the second paper will be refunded to the candidates.
