GATE 2017Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is jointly regulated by the seven IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) and IISC on rotation basis. GATE 2017 examination is conducting by the IIT Roorkee. The examination commences for providing admission to M.Tech/M.E programme offered by the IITs, NITs, GFTI and various private institutions. Candidate may get the direct admission to Ph.D programme through GATE Score. Many public and private companies consider the GATE score card for recruitment purpose. GATE 2017 examination was also held for international candidates in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates (U.A.E). GATE 2017 Result

GATE results has been announced on 26th March, 2017. Now the successful candidates can download their score card by accessing the GOAPS portal. The result has been declared via online mode through the website (link is given above).

GATE Score Card

The score card is only available for the qualified candidates and can be downloaded from the official portal of GOAPS. The GATE score card is valid for the 3 years from the date of the declaration of result. GATE 2017 Score Card Calculation will be done separately for various courses. The candidates can download the score card from 26th March to 5th May 2017.

GATE Answer Key 2017

The official answer key has been published by the authority on 27th February 2017 and challenge can be make between 3rd to 6th March 2017. The final answer key after candidates challanges has been released on 16th March 2017. The candidates can match their answers with the official answer key. Besides this, the candidates can also challenge the answer key of GATE 2017 by making the payment of nominal fee.

What is NEW in GATE 2017 ?

  • Centre:- Burdwan (IIT Guwahati Zone), Dibrugarh (IIT Guwahati Zone) and Gorakhpur (IIT Kanpur Zone) has been added as new centers by the authority.
  • New Paper:- The XE paper now has a new section on Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (section H). With this the number of sections in the XE paper has increased to eight (A-H).
  • GATE for International Candidates:- GATE 2017 examination shall be held for international candidates in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates (U.A.E).

GATE 2017 Admit Card

Admit card can be downloadable from the website. It was available online on 5th January 2016. The details like GOAPS enrollment ID and password is required to download the GATE admit card. Along with the admit card, one original identity proof is also needed to enter in the examination hall.

GATE 2017 Exam Pattern

  • Courses: It is held for engineering courses (M.Tech/ME)
  • No. of Papers: There is only one paper of GATE consisting of 100 marks.
  • No. of Questions: The number of questions asked in the examination will be 65 questions of objective type and numerical answer type (NAT).
    1. Out of 65 questions, 10 questions will be asked from the general aptitude section and carry 15 marks.
  • Duration: The time allotted to solve the question paper will be 3 hours.
  • Mode: Online Computer Based Test (CBT).
  • Answering: There is no choice provided for NAT questions as the answers of such questions will be entered manually using the virtual keyboard provided on the computer screen at the time of examination.
  • New Paper: The XE paper now has a new section on Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (section H). With this the number of sections in the XE paper has increased to eight (A-H).
  • Centre:- Burdwan (IIT Guwahati Zone), Dibrugarh (IIT Guwahati Zone) and Gorakhpur (IIT Kanpur Zone) has been added as new centers by the authority.

GATE Application Form Correction

If the candidates will commit the mistakes in their filled application form:

  • One can make the correction in application form during the correction period (from 15th November (11:00 AM) to 26th November 2016 (6:00 PM).
  • Correction process is over now.
  • Changes was done in Category, Gender and Examination City.
  • Corrections was made via online mode only.
  • No challan payment will be accepted for corrections.
  • Any changes is not permitted in GATE Paper.

Correction Fee:

The correction fee payment will be done via online mode only. No challan payment will be accepted. The correction fee is mentioned below:

  • For changes from SC/ST to General/OBC is Rs.750/-.
  • For changes from Female to Male/Others is Rs.750/-.
  • For changes from PwD to Non-PwD is Rs. 750/.
  • For changes in examination city is Rs. 400/-.

GATE 2017 Registration

  • The last date for GATE 2017 Applications has been over by 10th October 2016 (11:00 AM).
  • GATE Registration 2017 was available via online mode only.
  • Candidates could complete their registration process through GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System).
  • The GATE application form had been released from 1st September, 2016.
  • The last date of online registration was extended till 10th October 2016.
  • Candidate had to fill his/her personal details online.
  • Candidate had to upload the certificate from the principal, scanned signature and photograph.
  • The application fee payment could be processed either through net banking or debit card or e-challan.

 FAQ’s (Most Asked Questions)

Answer: GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System) is an online interphase for online registration of the candidates.
Answer: Yes, there is a separate paper for different branches.
Answer: Yes, for 1-mark multiple-choice questions, 1/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. Likewise, for 2-mark multiple-choice questions, 2/3 mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. There is NO negative marking for numerical answer type questions.

GATE 2017 Syllabus

GATE is held for the 23 papers (including petroleum engineering introduced last year). The candidates are required to choose only one paper as per his/her choice. There is a separate syllabus for each paper. The detailed GATE syllabus can be downloaded from here.

GATE 2018

GATE 2018 (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) will be conducted by the seven zonal IITs and an IISc on rotational basis. It is a national level aptitude test. This exam is organized for candidates, those seek admission into PG courses in the various field. Candidates will register for this exam from the 1st week of September 2017.

GATE Cut-off

The cut-off marks are the minimum marks required by the candidates to qualify the particular examination. The authority releases the GATE cut-off 2017 marks after the examination. The cut-off marks depend upon various factors like difficulty level of the exam, number of candidates appearing the exam, etc.

Counselling Procedure

The counselling of the GATE will be conducted by the CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan). Through counselling, the candidates are admitted to NITs, IISC, IITDM.  After the announcement of the result, the counselling procedure will be scheduled. The IITS also conducts their own counselling for providing admission. The seats are allotted on the basis of the score card that contains the performance of the candidates.

      it means that you must have degree of 12th (some people did bachelers studies after 10th n they are not eligible for it).
      yes u can appear in GATE if U have 12th’s degree

      yes you can pursue, but look for a good institution like IIT, or NIT. You should focus on GATE exam while continuing your current job. Once you get a good college you may quit your job.
